The launch of Intel 's latest artificial intelligence chip is expected to benefit three global semiconductor companies, according to Morgan Stanley. The semiconductor giant said the latest chip is twice as power-efficient and can run AI models one-and-a-half times faster than Nvidia's H100 GPU – the flagship product from the current AI chip market leader. In a research note Monday, the Wall Street bank said Taiwanese companies TSMC , Alchip , and Wistron are likely to be the biggest beneficiaries of the demand for Intel's Gaudi chips. In its note, Morgan Stanley reiterated its overweight rating on Alchip and TSMC, considering them long-term winners of AI semiconductor demand. The analysts are overweight on Wistron too, noting that Nvidia's new Blackwell GB200 AI chip will also drive immediate growth for the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer.

Just last year, Brad Herman, a longtime behind-the-scenes aide to celebrities, drew praise from the family of Cindy Birdsong, an ailing former member of the Supremes. He was credited with helping to rescue her from what they described as a friend’s undue influence over her care and finances. But now, Mr. Herman has been named in a petition brought by Ms. Birdsong’s son, who is accusing him in court papers of financial elder abuse and misappropriation of her money. The son, Charles Hewlett, who has been appointed the conservator of his mother’s affairs, is seeking damages and the return of what his petition describes as missing funds. The allegations follow months of court proceedings over who should control a conservatorship overseeing the finances and medical decisions of Ms. Birdsong, 84, who was once part of a Motown group that became music royalty.

ParTec , a developer of supercomputing systems, has surged over 95% year-to-date as investors have started to take notice of its potential. Hendrik Leber, fund manager at Acatis Datini Valueflex Fonds, owns ParTec shares and says he sees the company as a "very clear" investment opportunity. While competitors like Hewlett Packard can also bid on supercomputing projects, Lago Mascato said ParTec's middleware gives them a "unique selling point." Due to the thin trading volumes, Leber noted that even a 2 million euro stock placement took about a month to complete. Future opportunities with AI ParTec sees significant opportunities beyond traditional supercomputing by providing systems tailored to train large AI models.

A different kind of battle for Third PointA small computer chip design company, R2 Semiconductor, has been notching wins in a potentially big patent fight against Intel over the past few months — a dispute that could force Intel to stop selling several chip lines in Europe. The context: R2 sued Intel, as well as two customers, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Dell, in Germany, alleging that the chipmaker had infringed on a patent dealing with voltage regulation in semiconductors. A regional court in February issued injunctions against the sale of at least some Intel chips. And on March 8, a higher court rejected Intel’s effort to halt the decision. Meanwhile, a trial in Britain over the patent is set to begin next month.

New York CNN —Dealmaking is the lifeblood of Wall Street. But analysts say that funding cuts in the plan could end up harming mergers and acquisitions on Wall Street, squashing hopes of a recovery in dealmaking. The bad news: Recent regulations and proposed budget cuts threaten to step on those green shoots before they’re able to flower. Why it matters: Dealmaking isn’t just good for Wall Street. Shares of the stock are down nearly 30% so far this year after its seemingly nonstop streak of bad luck.

CNN —Russian state-backed hackers gained access to some of Microsoft’s core software systems in a hack first disclosed in January, the company said Friday, revealing a more extensive and serious intrusion into Microsoft’s systems than previously known. Hackers with access to source code can use it for follow-on attacks on other systems. Microsoft first revealed the breach in January, days before another Big Tech company, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, said the same hackers had breached its cloud-based email systems. The hacking group was behind the infamous breach of several US agency email systems using software made by US contractor SolarWinds, which was revealed in 2020.
